Welcome to EvilDeadWorkShed.com. My name is Mike. I replicate props from the Evil Dead series. I was probably 8 or 9 years old when I first seen my brothers dubbed VHS copy of Army of Darkness. It wasnt until a few years later I learned that Army of Darkness was a sequel to Evil Dead 2. After finally seeing all 3 films around 1999, ive been obsessed with the Evil Dead Franchise ever since. In October of 2015 I finally bought a Homelite XL off of eBay and began building a Chainsaw replica for myself. With me being a perfectionist, I had a 3D graphics student build the first side grill design to be printed using 3D Printing technology. After a few runs and changes I had made to the original design, I finally got the side grill design correct.
After having everything I needed, I proceeded to build my chainsaw. Working in multiple automotive shops in my high school years and developing the mechanical backround and skills I have today, I knew building my Chainsaw would be rather easy for me.
After a few days, I finished my personal Evil Dead II GROOVY EDITION Chainsaw. I was blown away when I sat back and seen it finished. Utilizing frame by frame screen shots from Evil Dead II, I was able to track down and duplicate Ash's Chainsaw perfectly.
A few weeks passed when I decided to order more Chainsaws off of eBay. I then placed an eBay ad for the GROOVY EDITION of the Chainsaw. I listed them as made to order. Within the first 18 hours, all 3 were sold.
As time went on and more orders came in, I decided I was tired of eBay killing me with thier fees, so my lovely wife told me about Etsy. After building an online store for on Etsy, I began selling more and more. Im sure the premier of Ash vs. Evil Dead helped as well.
After a few more weeks, I recieved an email from the owner of a photo booth company in Austin Texas. The company owner asked if i was going to be making the "WITCH CARVER" of the Evil Dead II Chainsaw. With already having plans on building them I began designing the bulky hard to make lid for the WITCH CARVER Chainsaw. After about 4-5 attempts I was finally able to produce the lid from a 3-piece welded steel template that I created. I also was able to successfully seal the seams and obtain matching paint to match the chainsaws almost perfectly (SEE THE WITCH CARVER VERSION IN THE CHAINSAW SHOP PAGE).
After producing the WITCH CARVER Version of the Evil Dead II Chainsaw, I advertised both versions as well.
As a dedication to all of the Evil Dead fans around the world, I decided to create EvilDeadWorkShed.com.
From mid October 2015 til now (Febuary 2016) I have built and sold 20 Evil Dead Chainsaw replicas throughout the world, including the UK, Italy, and Austrailia.
I will also be reproducing the mechanical arm from "Ash vs. Evil Dead". That is an upcoming prop that I will be making avaliable. I will also be reproducing the the famous impossible to find clock from the Evil Dead series.
As a note to all buyers, all of my chainsaws are built from original Homelite XL Chainsaws. I also use the original engine parts, fuel / oil tanks and caps, and mufflers. I also give the buyer the option to choose between the Evil Dead II style muffler or the Army of Darkness / Ash vs. Evil Dead exhaust style.
I also have a secret project coming up in the near future which should knock alot of Evil Dead fans right on thier asses. Itll be a good wow factor. So stick around and watch for updates to roll in.
UPDATE: As of 3/3/2016 Due to conflicting names that I have given my Chainsaws (Workshed and Cabin), unaware that these names were not just common names that have been widely used for the past 11 years on the internet, but they were names given to the different chainsaw versions by evildeadchainsaws.com. Though this is not a copyright violation, i have decided to end the confusion and the conflict by renaming my chainsaws.
The Evil Dead II Workshed Chainsaw will now be referred to as: the GROOVY EDITION
The Evil Dead II Cabin Chainsaw will now be referred to as: the WITCH CARVER EDITION
Please see my faqs under the contact me page for more information on this. my style, craftmanship, appearance and abilities have not changed, only the name assigned to the different versions of the chainsaws.
